From Vine to Table: Local Food Producers That Pair Beautifully with Our Wines

At West Sandy Creek Winery, we believe great wine deserves great company, and we don’t just mean the friends you bring along. We mean the food on your plate. Nestled on 360 acres at the edge of the Sam Houston National Forest in Richards, Texas, we’re surrounded by a region full of passionate local food artisans, farmers, and restaurateurs who share our love of quality, craft, and Texas roots. These dedicated creators allow us to pair regional foods with our Texas wine, creating a truly vine to table experience. Here’s our guide to the local producers and spots whose flavors sing alongside our wines.

A Little About Our Wines

Before we pair, let’s set the stage. From our 15 acres of estate vineyards, we grow three grape varieties and craft nine distinct wines:

  • Blanc du Bois: four expressions: sweet, dry, oaked (Old World Reserve), and dessert
  • Lenoir (Black Spanish): sweet/blush, dry, and port styles
  • Bounty Land Crossings: our signature Tempranillo/Lenoir blend
  • Rosé: a Blanc du Bois/Lenoir blend

Each one has a distinct personality, and each one deserves a thoughtful food partner.

Local Producers We Love, and What to Pour with Them

Local Honey Producers

Blue Ribbon Honey Company | Huntsville area

Award-winning raw, unfiltered Texas honey — they’ve taken top honors at the Texas Beekeepers Association’s competition. A drizzle of their wildflower honey on a cheese board alongside a glass of our Sweet Blanc du Bois is one of those simple, unforgettable combinations. The floral sweetness in the honey echoes the tropical, peachy notes in the wine without overpowering either.

Try it with: Sweet Blanc du Bois or Portejas Blanc (White Port)

Artisan Cheesemakers

Cheesemakers Inc. | Lone Star Artisan Goat Cheeses

Crafting authentic hand-made goat cheeses under their “Lone Star” brand using all-natural ingredients from their own dairy farms and winning American Dairy Goat Association honors for it. Fresh chèvre alongside our Texas Blanc du Bois Dry is a classic pairing for good reason: the wine’s crisp acidity and hints of pear and lemon cut through the richness of the cheese, while the citrusy finish brightens every bite.

Pasture-Raised Meats

Perfectly Pastured | Montgomery, Texas

A Montgomery-area ranch committed to regenerative, pasture-based farming. Their animals are raised the way nature intended , and the flavor difference shows. A charcuterie board built from their cuts is a natural companion to a flight at the tasting room. Their richer, earthier meats stand up beautifully to our bold reds.

Try it with: Texas Lenoir or Bounty Land Crossings

Fresh Seafood

Best Catch Fish and Seafood Market | Huntsville

Offering Gulf Coast staples such as fresh crawfish, blue crab, shrimp, oysters, and red snapper for decades. Gulf seafood and a crisp Texas white wine is one of those effortless regional pairings. Our Old World Reserve (Blanc du Bois aged in oak) brings a buttery, toasty depth that loves nothing more than a plate of Gulf shrimp or delicate snapper.

Local Farm Produce

Hunzikers Farm | Huntsville

Selling fresh, seasonal Texas produce: sugar snaps, tomatoes, cantaloupe, squash, and pickled specialties  at the Walker County Farmers Market and local pop-up events. Their pickled vegetables make a bright, briny accompaniment to a charcuterie spread. If you’re planning a picnic on our grounds, stop by the farmers market on Wednesday or Saturday first.

Try it with: Texas Lenoir Blush or Rosé

Artisan Pantry Goods

Vintage Food | Conroe, Texas

Producing all-natural jars of jellies, raw local honey, granola bars, and pickles. Their fruit jellies like peach, fig, or plum spread over a slice of local cheese and eaten between sips of our Portejas Roja create a dessert course that’s hard to beat. Rich, jammy, and satisfying.

Try it with: Portejas Roja or Texas Blanc du Bois Sweet

A Local Restaurant That Welcomes Your Wine

Farmhouse Cafe & Bakery | Huntsville, Texas

Not every great meal has to come from our kitchen. Farmhouse Cafe , a beloved Huntsville institution for over 20 years , is proudly alcohol-free by the owners’ choice, which means you’re welcome to bring your own bottle. Confirmed as BYO Wine, it’s the rare local spot where you can sit down to their legendary comfort food and pour a glass of something you picked up right here at the winery.

Think blue plate specials, house-made pies, broccoli cornbread, and Gulf shrimp , hearty Southern food that’s a natural match for our bolder, fruit-forward wines. Their family-style hospitality feels cut from the same cloth as ours.

Pairs well with: Texas Lenoir Blush alongside their chicken-fried steak or pork tenderloin; Rosé with their lighter salads and shrimp dishes; Texas Blanc du Bois Dry with their fresh daily fish specials.
